Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa – RED COURSE
    April 17-18, 2010
How low can you go? The Wigwam Red Course was at the mercy of Henry Cunningham as he took the Overall Medalist honors with an impressive 8 under par for his two days of tournament play. He carded a bogey free 6 under round on Sunday with three birdies on each nine to seal the deal. Congratulations Henry! The leader group which included George Cunningham, Henry Cunningham, and Trey Kaahanui had a total of 16 birdies in the final round, an impressive 31 birdies between the three players over the two days!! Very fun to watch the rewards of hard work and precision golf. Alejandro de Zavala took the Overall Medalist honors with his personal best round of 72 (even par) for his first round and a 76 on Sunday. Alejandro continues to sharpen his golfing skills at each event. Alejandro has placed 1st in all 5 events this season, one ending in a playoff. He is just coming off a stellar performance in Mexico where he was the Runner-up in the Mexican National Tournament just 2 shots behind the leader after three days of play. Well done Alejandro!

Congratulations to all the place finishers in each division:
    Overall Medalist B14-19: Henry Cunningham
Overall Medalist B 13-Under: Alejandro de Zavala
B16-19: Trey Kaahanui (1st), Keenan Steele (2nd), Dillon Callow (3rd)
B14-15: George Cunningham (1st), Jaime Waltimire (2nd), Camden Nierman (3rd)
B12-13: Jake Chanen (1st), Matt Stark (2nd), Alex Fernandez (3rd)
B10-11: Jeffrey Miller (1st), John Sand (2nd), Jack Snyder (3rd)
    B8-9: Dominic Wade (1st)

We had some very close races in each division. The layout of the Red Course gave everyone a chance to score! Jeffrey Miller in the B10-11 division has won 6 events and 2 runner-up finishes for the season. He is truly a dedicated player coming from El Paso, Texas for each event. Jake Chanen in the B12-13 division has continued his precision playing as he wins his 4th event this season. George Cunningham in our B14-15 shot the low round on Saturday with a 68 and managed to keep it going on Sunday for the division win. Trey Kaahanui managed to scramble his way to the finish to secure the B16-19 division with an opening round of 69. Dominic Wade in the B8-9 division continues to show that he is a champion. Dominic made it to the first tee after finishing a baseball game earlier that morning. What an athlete. That was true for Matt Stark, he made it to the first tee after playing a full basketball game prior to our event. I admire the energy and stamina of both of you. Congratulations to all of you!

Thank you to the Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa for always welcoming our Juniors and their families. Rick and his staff have always done a tremendous job with the course. So next time you are in the west valley stop in to play a round at the Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa. Thank you also to Steve Chanen for providing Nikki James belts for our "sign-up" special that went on. Visit www.nikkijamesgear.com and look like a Champ on the course. Thanks Steve and Mel for all you do for our Tour!
